LoanMart has been helping support the LA community for years. LoanMart began its Corporate Citizenship Program in 2013. This program takes a more hands on approach to giving back, as it involves LoanMart employees!

On March 21st and April 10th, LoanMart employees spent their day volunteering at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

What Does the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank Provide for the Community?

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is a crucial part of the Los Angeles Community. Every month it provides food to over 300,000 hungry people in the local community. The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank estimates that one in eight people in Los Angeles experience food insecurity. Because of these massive numbers, they have made it their mission to lower that statistic.

The volunteers who spend their free time helping are the backbone of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Without them, it would be impossible to get the work done, and ultimately feed the hungry.

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank works to provide the following:

  • Food for the Community— The food from the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is distributed to families, seniors, low income households, and individuals in need of assistance throughout the city. Along with providing meals at several local places, they also deliver to households.
  • Food Education and Donations— In addition to providing meals for the hungry, the LA Regional Food bank also provides important nutritional education for all ages. Their Extra Helpings Program ensures that any left-over food is not wasted or thrown away, but instead donated to other local food banks or charities in the community.

The Los Angeles Regional Food bank has been helping the community since 1973 and continues to be a huge help for residents experiencing food insecurity.

How Did LoanMart Employees Spend Their Time at the LA Regional Food Bank?

LoanMart employees spent their days sorting and packing food that would soon make its way to residents throughout the community. Together, the group of LoanMart employees were able to sort through and pack over 12,300 pounds of food! By working together, the employees were able to get through that much food in only four hours! Every employee agreed that the experience was worth it and that helping others made them feel empowered to do more.

Will the LoanMart Corporate Citizenship Program Continue?

Because of the success of these two volunteer days and the response of the employees who participated, LoanMart is going to continue their volunteering program. A new group of employees are going to make a trip to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank in a few months’ time. Through reoccurring visits, LoanMart and its employees hope to find additional ways to help their local community.

LoanMart and its employees are extremely excited to be able to spend their time working with such an integral part of the Los Angeles community.
